Ingredients

600g good quality minced beef

1 onion - finely chopped

1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce

4 sesame seed hamburger buns

8 slices of dry cured streaky bacon - grilled to a crisp

4 slices of Emmental cheese

1 large tomato - sliced

1 large dill pickle - sliced

Shredded lettuce

American mustard and tomato ketchup to serve

Instructions

1Mix the beef with the onion and Worcestershire sauce and shape into four even sized patties. Slice the sesame bun and lightly toast. Grill, fry or barbecue the hamburgers for about 4-5 minutes on each side - add the cheese slices for the last couple of minutes of cooking so that they start to melt

2To make the stack, spread some mustard and/or ketchup on the buns, add shredded lettuce and then lay the burgers on top. Add slices of tomato and dill pickle, some crispy bacon and then secure with a cocktail stick

3Serve with sea-salt sprinkled chunky chips, sweetcorn relish on the side, and - unless you're feeling very brave - a knife and fork!
