Heart Shaped Cinnamon and Vanilla Buns
These easy cinnamon and vanilla bread rolls make the perfect breakfast for Valentine's Day. Serve warm with a dollop of cream and some jam.
Preparation time 10 mins
Cooking time 25 mins
1 Mix the milk, butter and the vanilla together in a jug.
2 Combine the flour, yeast, cinnamon, sugar and salt in a large bowl.
3 Make a hole in the dry ingredients and pour in the liquid and mix until it forms a dough.
4 Transfer the cinnamon vanilla dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 mins.
5 Return the dough to the bowl, cover and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hr or until it doubles on size.
6 Then tip the dough back onto the flour surface, knead it again and then cut into 30 rolls. To make them heart shaped, roll each bit into a drumstick shape (i.e. fat on one end and skinny on the other end). Make a 3 cm cut into the fat end, slightly press down to flatten and emphasize each heart shape and transfer the shaped buns unto a lined baking tray, cover and let then rise for about 30 minutes.
7 Preheat the oven to fan assisted 180C / 200C / Gas 6.
8 Glaze each bun with the egg and bake for 20-25 minutes until done.
9 Serve with some jam, cream and a hot drink.
