Getting into the spirit of Halloween… For the kids it’s easy, they’ll make any excuse to dress up and consume vast amounts of sugar.
We know that for a lot of parents Halloween comes with the threat of spending far too much money on the perfect costume; not to mention the treats and decorations to go with it. But it’s worth it to see the smiles on their faces!
We’ve brought together what we think are the best and most innovative DIY creations for your Halloween, so you can give your kids a truly spooky experience without spending all your hard-earned cash.
The Perfect Pumpkin
Pumpkin carving can be tricky, but worth the hassle. For the best results, we recommend our range of stone quartz knives. The stone quartz chef’s knife or the bread knife (for a more serrated edge) will be your saviour this Halloween making your life easier and giving you the most frightening pumpkin ever.
The number of designs for pumpkins is increasing year on year with the results becoming more extravagant and scarier than ever before. Let your creativity flow, don’t just go for the original crooked smile, try something outside the box, for inspiration take a look at this gallery full of original Halloween designs.
If you think your pumpkin is the best, or want to show us your most extravagant design, tag us and we will re-share your creations.
Decorating your Halloween party.
While you’re in charge of the sharp knives and the messy pumpkin job, give the kids the job of party decorations. A great one to start with is a garland for your fireplace, made of bats, cats or witches hats.
One of our favourites is a jack- o- lantern candlestick, this simple idea gives your home a creepy orange glow. All you would need for these are some jars, candles, orange colouring and a dash of creativity.
An even easier approach to candle making is to wrap them in black lace, creating a spooky setting for your Halloween party.
For more examples and inspiration take a look at this helpful page here. We love the pumpkin made from jar lids, check it out!
Getting creative in the kitchenBaking is a great way to channel creativity. At Halloween, the more creative, the better and If you can keep the kids from licking the bowl clean before it’s baked, you may just end up with a masterpiece.
Using one of our shaped cupcake baking trays, you can create your own edible mini pumpkins. The braided cookie pans will give you a perfect ridged pumpkin effect and orange food colouring will bring your cakes alive.
Another good one for those with a sweet tooth would be homemade toffee apples. Using one of our baking trays, like the Non-stick prestige oven tray you can produce a feast of sticky sweet apples; that ought to keep the kids happy.
