- Boil the egg. If your egg has been kept in the fridge it will need to warm up before you boil it, so put it into the saucepan, cover with cold water and bring to the boil
- If your egg has been kept out of the fridge, three quarters fill a saucepan with water, put on a medium heat and bring to the boil. Gently lower your egg into the saucepan using a long handled slotted spoon. As soon as the water comes to the boil set the timer for: 7-8 minutes (large eggs will need 8 minutes) for a hard boiled egg
- Lift the egg out of the saucepan with a slotted spoon. Run cold water over the egg to stop it from cooking and to help cool it down. Peel away the shell and slice egg
- Spread a little butter over the bread; mash the hard boiled egg in a bowl. Add a little mayonnaise to the egg and mix; you may also like to add a little freshly ground black pepper. Spoon the egg onto one slice of the bread. Using scissors snip the cress over the top of the egg. Cover with the other slice of bread and then cut in half.
